Jabez came alone to the Jerusalem Prayer Center gate. Like many other Asians believers, he has taken on a name from the Bible. A large group of people were at the JPC that day, causing Jabez’ loneliness to feel even more profound. His work takes him all over the world as he seeks out people from his home country who are living in foreign lands. Jabez’ desire is to preach to his countrymen wherever they are, encouraging them as they live outside their homeland. Like so many encouragers, Jabez needed encouragement, himself. He had given so much, he was needing to renew his strength.
Larry and Jabez went upstairs together, as brothers in the Lord. For the next hour they prayed together and shared Jabez’ burden. Larry shared with him from 1 Chronicles 4:10, where the biblical Jabez cries out to the Lord saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!”
- Ask that God would answer his prayer and encourage him as he travels the world encouraging others.
- Ask that this man would form positive relationships with people who could accompany him in his work.
- Ask that the Father would give Jabez fruit in his ministry.
