Prayer Spaces – Prayer Gardens
The gardens of the Jerusalem Prayer Center call many people to prayer.
A Family Prayer Garden planted with all of the seven species of Deuteronomy 8:8 allows parents to guide their children in prayer. Stone benches, a small olive press / grain mill, creative prayer spaces, and water features all provide tangible object lessons for parents as they guide their children in family prayer.
Scripture panels are inset into the garden wall allowing places for meditation among pomegranate trees and troughs of barley and wheat.
The garden is not a playground, but is a place where parents can follow Jesus’ example of sharing truth using what was tangible before him, teaching through parables and activities.
And you shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house,
and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Deuteronomy 11:19
